Comprehensive Troubleshooting Guide: What to Do If Your Camera Won’t Charge

Camera Charging Guide

⚡ Charging troubleshooter

4 simple steps — fix 80% of charging issues at home.
1 Inspect & isolate your power source

Try a different wall outlet. Computer USB ports often don't provide enough power for a dead battery.

Pro tip: Test the same cable and adapter with another device (like a phone). If it doesn't charge, the cable or brick is faulty — replace it.
2 Clean the charging port

Dust, lint, and debris can block the connection.

  • Use compressed air or a dry, soft-bristled brush (e.g., clean toothbrush).
⚠️ Caution: Never insert metal objects (paperclips, pins) — they can bend or short-circuit the internal pins.
3 Force a hardware reset

If the charging logic freezes, the camera won't recognise the charger.

Fix: Plug into a working power source, then press and hold the Power button for 20 seconds. The LED should come back on.
🔋 Battery health tips
Avoid extremes Don't charge below 32°F (0°C) or above 104°F (40°C).
Don't store at 0% For long storage, keep battery at 50–70% to prevent degradation.
Certified accessories Always use chargers that match the voltage/current in your manual.
